As the old saying goes.."it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye"........
I have been unsucessfully trying to release Ginger Fluff to free range with Cleo since Sophia died last year....
But it just hasn't worked....their territories are so marked out now in the backyard that each time I let Ginger Fluff , our big rabbit out to stretch her legs and have a run it ends in disaster.
They fight quite badly once Cleo knows that she is out and it dosn't stop. Continues rounds of fisty cuffs until we finally catch Gingie and put her back.
But this what we see every day.
As long as Ginger Fluff is back in her run then Cleo is friends with her again...they groom each other through the sides of the run and will often sleep side by side through the wire.
Crazy.
Today Cleo is saying sorry to Ginger Fluff I think? A scratch to Ginger Fluffs eye in the last round of battles saw a trip to the vet, medicine for three days and ointment for her eye three times a day and a rather large vet bill.
I wont be letting her out again any time soon.......

Poor Ginger, may be Cleo needs a turn to stay in the cage One day about sounds like sharing to me. Then a bit more of Gingers scent will be around and Cleo might not think it is her patch only. Anything for peace in the rabbit world.

We have the same thing with the goats...they are always butting each other to work out who is boss. Then if they are away from one another , they cry and cry.
Those rabbits are very cute though, it is hard to imagine them bashing each other up .
They definitely should take turns being out I think, not that it will make much difference but at least they both will get a run around the yard.
We inherited a female bunny who found her way into our yard. Benjamin Bunny was very excited to have a new friend - too excited...even after a trip to the vet to ensure we would not have little bunnies... so they are in separate cages... :(
Fluffy and Honey were exactly the same - all friendly when there was a barrier between them but take it away and it was war.
